6:38 When they return to you with all their heart and being ¹  in the land where they are held prisoner and direct their prayers toward the land you gave to their ancestors, your chosen city, and the temple I built for your honor, ²

25:23 King Joash of Israel captured King Amaziah of Judah, son of Joash son of Jehoahaz, in Beth Shemesh and brought him to Jerusalem. He broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate – a distance of about six hundred feet. ⁹

26:18 They confronted ¹⁰  King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not proper for you, Uzziah, to offer incense to the Lord. That is the responsibility of the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who are consecrated to offer incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have disobeyed ¹¹  and the Lord God will not honor you!”

Ahaz’s Reign

28:1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. ¹²  He did not do what pleased the Lord, in contrast to his ancestor David. ¹³

28:5 The Lord his God handed him over to the king of Syria. The Syrians ¹⁴  defeated him and deported many captives to Damascus. ¹⁵  He was also handed over to the king of Israel, who thoroughly defeated him. ¹⁶
